Anthropic Partners With Apple, Google to Test AI Cybersecurity Defense

Anthropic has launched Project Glasswing, a major collaboration with tech rivals including Apple, Google, and Microsoft to develop AI-powered cybersecurity defenses. More than 45 organizations have joined the project to test Anthropic's new Claude Mythos Preview model for security applications.

The partnership comes as cybersecurity experts warn that AI-enabled hacking is already beginning to tip the balance in favor of attackers. Traditional cybersecurity requires defenders to patch every vulnerability while hackers only need to find one entry point to break in.

"As we enter a phase where cybersecurity is no longer bound by purely human capacity, the opportunity to use AI responsibly to improve security and reduce risk at scale is unprecedented," said Igor Tsyganskiy, Microsoft's global chief information security officer.

The collaboration represents an unusual alliance between competing tech companies who typically guard their AI developments closely. By working together, they aim to develop defensive AI tools that can match the speed and sophistication of AI-powered attacks.

Project Glasswing will test whether AI systems can automatically detect threats, patch vulnerabilities, and respond to cyberattacks faster than human security teams currently can.
