Baby Dies from Dog Bite, 45-Year-Old Man Arrested in Redcar

A three-month-old baby girl died Thursday after being attacked by what sources describe as a 'bully breed' dog in Redcar, England. The infant was reportedly being looked after by a friend when the attack occurred.

Police arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death. Two dogs were seized from the same address and have since been destroyed by authorities.

Officers remain at the scene investigating the circumstances surrounding the baby's death. The incident occurred at a residential address in the coastal town of Redcar.

Dog attacks on infants are extremely rare but often prove fatal due to babies' small size and inability to defend themselves. Under UK law, owners can face up to 14 years in prison if their dog kills someone.
