Christopher Morel has returned to the Miami Marlins after finishing his injury rehab with Triple-A Jacksonville. The team announced he will meet them in Los Angeles before their three-game series against the Dodgers.
Morel fills a big need for Miami. Their outfield is heavy with left-handed hitters, but Morel bats right-handed and has power. This balance could make their offense more dangerous against opposing pitchers.
The Marlins signed Morel to a one-year deal to help restart his career. The team doesn't have much money to spend, so they look for players with lots of upside potential.
For 2026, the Marlins want Morel to hit at least .275. If he can get off to a hot start in the first half of the season, it would prove their faith in him was right. The team sent down Heriberto Hernández to make room for Morel on the roster.
