Cree Summer Returns as Professor in Netflix's 'A Different World' Sequel
Cree Summer will return to Netflix's 'A Different World' sequel series as a professor at Hillman College. Summer played student Freddie Brooks in the original show but will now be teaching instead of learning.

Cree Summer is heading back to Hillman College for Netflix's 'A Different World' sequel series. But this time, the actress who played free-spirited student Freddie Brooks will be running the classroom as a professor.
Production is already underway on the Netflix sequel to the popular 90s sitcom that originally aired from 1987 to 1993. The show followed students at the fictional historically Black college Hillman.
Summer won't be the only familiar face returning. Charnele Brown will reprise her role as Kimberly Reese, and Jenifer Lewis returns as Dorothy Dandridge Davenport, the former dean who now serves as a professor. Other original stars coming back include Darryl M. Bell as Ron Johnson, Dawnn Lewis as Jaleesa Vinson-Taylor, and Glynn Turman as Col. Bradford Taylor.
Netflix has also confirmed that Jada Pinkett-Smith will return to Hillman for the sequel series. Pinkett-Smith played Lena James in the original show's first season.
The beloved 90s college sitcom is getting new life on Netflix with original stars. Fans who grew up watching the show can see their favorite characters as adults in new roles.
Netflix has not announced a release date for the 'A Different World' sequel series yet.
