A dog is safe after being rescued from Lake Erie waters in Ohio, thanks to quick action from firefighters and animal control officers.
The rescue began when a woman spotted the dog getting out of Lake Erie before going back into the water. She immediately called first responders for help. When firefighters arrived, they found the dog in a drainage basin connected to the lake.
The dog looked exhausted and was having trouble swimming, firefighters said. The scared animal had retreated after its ordeal, clearly shaken by the experience.

Both rescues required teamwork between fire departments and animal control to safely remove the dogs from dangerous water situations.
This rescue shows how quickly pets can get into dangerous situations near water. It also highlights how everyday people can save lives by calling for help when they see animals in distress.
The rescued dog's condition and whether it has been reunited with owners has not been reported.
