Dropout Submits Game Changer and Very Important People for 2026 Emmy Awards
Dropout, the streaming service formerly known as CollegeHumor, submitted two of its shows for the 2026 Emmy Awards. Game Changer and Very Important People will compete across 11 categories, with host Vic Michaelis entering the Lead Comedy Actress race.
Dropout announced it will submit Game Changer and Very Important People for consideration at the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards. The indie streamer, which grew from the comedy website CollegeHumor, is entering 11 different categories.
Game Changer is a comedy panel game show that has become one of Dropout's most popular series. Very Important People, hosted by comedian Vic Michaelis, features an inventive approach to character creation that has made it stand out in the short-form category.
Michaelis, who uses they/them pronouns, will compete in the Lead Comedy Actress category. They have also appeared on the Hallmark Channel and starred in various comedy projects.
Dropout has been building its Emmy strategy over several years. In previous years, the platform submitted shows like Very Important People in the outstanding talk series category, where it competed against established shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live and other late-night programs.
The move represents Dropout's growing confidence as a legitimate competitor in the streaming space. The platform has built a loyal following with original comedy content that often goes viral on social media.
This marks a big step for independent streaming platforms trying to compete with major networks like Netflix and HBO. It shows smaller creators can now reach the same level of recognition as big-budget TV shows.
Emmy nominations will be announced later in 2025, with the ceremony taking place in 2026.
