Google Translate Adds AI Pronunciation Practice for Android Users

Google rolled out pronunciation practice in its Translate app to celebrate the service's 20th anniversary. The company says this was one of the most requested features from users.

The feature works by letting users tap a "Practice" button at the bottom of the app. Users can listen to translations, then try pronouncing the words themselves. The AI analyzes their speech and provides feedback on how to improve.

Right now, the tool only works on Android phones and supports three languages: English, Spanish, and Hindi. It's available in the US and India, with no word yet on when it might expand to other countries or languages.

Users can customize practice scenarios around specific goals like traveling, school, or work conversations. The AI listens to pronunciation attempts and offers suggestions for improvement, addressing a major gap in language learning apps.
