IKEA Tests New Inflatable Chair with Cats for 2026 Launch
IKEA is releasing an inflatable chair in 2026 that survived testing by cats with their claws. The chair is part of the company's PS 2026 collection and passed all of IKEA's standard durability tests for armchairs.

IKEA is bringing back inflatable furniture with a new chair that launches in 2026. The Swedish furniture giant tested the chair with cats to make sure their claws wouldn't pop it.
The inflatable chair is part of IKEA's experimental PS 2026 collection. It took the company 26 years to perfect inflatable furniture after previous attempts. The chair passed every durability test IKEA runs on regular armchairs.
Customers can inflate the chair in about the time it takes to play five songs, using an included pump. IKEA says the chair uses air because it's "free and available to everyone," keeping costs low. The design doesn't look like typical inflatable furniture from the 1990s.
The PS 2026 collection will also include a wooden bench that rocks back and forth. IKEA hasn't announced pricing for the inflatable chair yet.
This could bring back affordable, lightweight furniture that's easy to move and store. For renters and people who move often, inflatable furniture offers a cheap alternative to heavy traditional chairs.
IKEA will release pricing details and the full PS 2026 collection launch timeline.
