Indonesia received the bodies of three peacekeepers Saturday who were killed while serving with the UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon. The soldiers died in two separate explosion attacks.
Two of the peacekeepers were identified as Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, 33, and Muhammad Nur Ichwan, 26. They were killed when an explosion hit a UNIFIL logistics convoy in southern Lebanon. A third Indonesian peacekeeper also died in the attacks.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono said his country wants a thorough UN investigation into the deaths. He called the attacks that also injured three other Indonesian peacekeepers "unacceptable."
UNIFIL is the UN peacekeeping force that monitors the border between Israel and Lebanon. The force has faced increasing dangers as regional tensions have escalated. Indonesia is one of several countries that contribute troops to the peacekeeping mission.
