Julieta Venegas Wins Billboard Excellence Award After Inspiring Tainy-Bad Bunny Hit
Mexican singer-songwriter Julieta Venegas will receive the Artistic Excellence Award at Billboard's 2026 Latin Women in Music gala. The honor comes after her influence on producer Tainy led to a surprise collaboration with Bad Bunny on the song 'Lo Siento BB:/'.
Julieta Venegas will be honored with Billboard's Artistic Excellence Award at the 2026 Latin Women in Music gala, recognizing her decades-long impact on Latin music.
The award comes after Venegas played a key role in creating 'Lo Siento BB:/', a collaboration between producer Tainy and reggaeton superstar Bad Bunny. Tainy says Venegas' music 'influenced how I saw melodies, chords and ambiences in my music' and helped him 'understand myself better.'
The collaboration happened when Tainy wanted to add an acoustic interlude to his song with Bad Bunny. He reached out to Venegas without telling Bad Bunny. When Tainy sent the finished version to the reggaeton star, Bad Bunny was surprised and immediately wanted Venegas' part moved to the intro, calling it 'the perfect buildup.'
The song blends Venegas' signature piano-and-vocals style with modern reggaeton, showing how different generations of Latin artists can work together. Venegas has been making music for over two decades and continues to influence younger producers and artists.
This shows how veteran Latin artists continue to shape today's biggest hits. Venegas' acoustic style influenced one of reggaeton's top producers, proving that different music styles can blend to create chart-toppers that reach new audiences.
Billboard's 2026 Latin Women in Music gala will take place next year, where Venegas will receive her award.
