Lainey Wilson Headlines Stagecoach After Wind Delay Forces Festival Evacuation
Country star Lainey Wilson performed her headlining set at Stagecoach festival Saturday night, starting an hour late at 10:30 p.m. after high winds forced an emergency evacuation earlier that day. She surprised fans by bringing Riley Green and Little Big Town on stage as special guests.
High winds forced Stagecoach festival organizers to evacuate the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California on Saturday, delaying headliner Lainey Wilson's performance by one hour. The country music star eventually took the stage at 10:30 p.m., opening with her song "Can't Sit Still."
Wilson made up for the delay by bringing surprise guests Riley Green and Little Big Town to perform with her. The move delighted fans, some of whom had traveled from as far as Germany specifically to see Wilson and Green perform.
The evacuation also forced Journey to cancel their scheduled performance on the Mustang stage entirely. One international fan expressed their frustration on social media, writing "Flew all the way from Germany for that one weekend to see Lainey and Riley, and now I'm on the shuttle."
The 2026 Stagecoach festival continues through Sunday, April 26 at the Empire Polo Club. Despite Saturday's weather disruption, the festival resumed normal operations for Wilson's set and other evening performances.
The delay shows how severe weather can disrupt major music festivals that fans spend hundreds of dollars to attend. Some concertgoers flew internationally just to see Wilson perform, making the successful show a relief for disappointed travelers.
Stagecoach's final day continues Sunday, April 26 with the remaining scheduled performers.
