Olympic skiing legend Lindsey Vonn is considering a return to professional skiing, she revealed in a recent NBC interview.
When asked if she was "entertaining the idea of maybe another comeback," Vonn responded: "I mean, much to my family's dismay, yes." The 40-year-old explained that she feels she never got proper closure from her skiing career.
"I think it's just something that — I mean, I've been, like I said, so isolated and not able to really live life outside of skiing," Vonn said. She referenced never getting "a final run" after her Olympic crash.
Vonn retired from professional skiing in 2019 due to injuries. She won 82 World Cup races during her career, making her one of the most successful ski racers in history. She also won Olympic gold in downhill at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
The timing is notable with the 2026 Winter Olympics coming to Milan-Cortina, Italy. Vonn has been dealing with various injuries throughout her career, which ultimately led to her original retirement decision.
Vonn is one of the most successful ski racers ever, with 82 World Cup wins. A comeback would be huge for skiing and could inspire other athletes to return after retirement.
