Alvaro Folgueiras, a 6-foot-8 forward who helped Iowa basketball reach the Elite Eight, committed to transfer to Louisville for Year 3 under coach Pat Kelsey. The 4-star transfer previously played at Robert Morris before Iowa.
Louisville basketball has landed one of the top players available in the transfer portal. Alvaro Folgueiras, a 6-foot-8 forward from Iowa, committed to the Cardinals for the upcoming season.
Folgueiras was a key player for Iowa's run to the Elite Eight this past March. He brings offensive versatility that Louisville needs after falling short in the NCAA Tournament's second round against Michigan State.
The transfer portal pickup addresses Louisville's need for a stretch-four player who can score from multiple positions. Folgueiras will complement defensive presence Kasparas Bidunga by adding more offensive options to the Cardinals' lineup.
