Netflix Halts 'Selling the O.C.' Filming to Focus on 'Selling Sunset'
Netflix has told the cast of 'Selling the O.C.' they won't be filming this year. The streaming giant is putting the Orange County real estate show on hold to focus on its more popular sister show 'Selling Sunset.'

Netflix has put 'Selling the O.C.' on indefinite hold, telling cast members they won't be filming any new episodes this year. The decision comes as the streaming service chooses to focus resources on 'Selling Sunset,' the original Los Angeles-based real estate reality show.
According to sources close to production, the delay isn't related to any specific drama or issues with the Orange County cast. Instead, Netflix appears to be prioritizing the more established 'Selling Sunset' series.
The news comes as the show faces other changes. Alexandra Jarvis, one of the main cast members, recently left the Oppenheim Group real estate brokerage that serves as the show's setting.
'Selling the O.C.' launched as a spinoff of the popular 'Selling Sunset' series, following real estate agents at the Oppenheim Group's Orange County office. While it gained a following, it never reached the same level of popularity as its Los Angeles counterpart.
This shows how streaming services make quick decisions about which shows to keep based on popularity. Fans of the Orange County version may lose their favorite show, while resources go to the Los Angeles-based 'Selling Sunset' instead.
Netflix hasn't announced if 'Selling the O.C.' will return for future seasons or if it's been permanently canceled.
