NJ Transit Charges $150 World Cup Train Fares, 10 Times Regular Price
NJ Transit confirmed it will charge World Cup fans $150 for round-trip train tickets from New York to New Jersey for matches at MetLife Stadium. The price is more than 10 times the regular fare.

NJ Transit officially announced Friday that World Cup fans traveling from New York's Penn Station to MetLife Stadium will pay $150 for round-trip train tickets. The fare is more than 10 times what commuters normally pay for the same route.
The transit agency said the high prices will help cover $48 million in expected extra costs during the FIFA World Cup games. Regular train service for commuters will be suspended for four hours before each match to accommodate the special World Cup trains.
The announcement confirms what many fans feared after sky-high ticket prices were already announced for the tournament matches. Soccer fans attending games at MetLife Stadium will now face both expensive game tickets and costly transportation to reach the venue.
The World Cup matches are scheduled for this spring at various U.S. venues, with MetLife Stadium in New Jersey hosting multiple games.
Soccer fans already paying high ticket prices will face massive transportation costs just to get to the games. Regular commuters will also lose train service for four hours before each match.
World Cup matches at MetLife Stadium will begin this spring with the new fare structure in place.
