Rory McIlroy Wins Second Straight Masters, Beats Scottie Scheffler by One Shot
Rory McIlroy won his second straight Masters tournament at Augusta National on Sunday, shooting one-under par in the final round to beat Scottie Scheffler by one shot. The Northern Irish golfer held his nerve during a tense final day to claim back-to-back green jackets.

Rory McIlroy captured his second consecutive Masters title Sunday at Augusta National, holding off a strong challenge from Scottie Scheffler and Justin Rose in a gripping final round.
The 35-year-old from Northern Ireland shot one-under par on the final day to finish one shot ahead of Scheffler, who made a late charge up the leaderboard. Rose also contended for the title but fell short of McIlroy's winning total.
McIlroy's victory is especially sweet after enduring 17 unsuccessful attempts at the Masters before breaking through with his first green jacket last year. He called his "perseverance" the key to finally conquering Augusta National after so many near-misses.
The win makes McIlroy just the latest golfer to claim back-to-back Masters victories, joining an elite group of champions. The prize comes with over $3.3 million in prize money.
McIlroy watched several challengers make runs at the title throughout the final round but managed to stay calm under pressure to secure the victory.
McIlroy's victory makes him one of golf's elite champions after 17 failed attempts at the Masters before last year's win. Back-to-back Masters wins put him in rare company among golf legends and cement his place as one of the world's top players.
McIlroy will aim to defend his title again at the 2027 Masters next April at Augusta National.
