Senator Tillis Says Trump Should Share Iran War Details with Congress
Republican Senator Thom Tillis said President Trump should share more details about the war with Iran to help Congress understand why the U.S. needs military forces in the region. Tillis told NBC News that Trump's objectives in the four-week conflict remain unclear.

Republican Senator Thom Tillis from North Carolina is pushing President Trump to be more transparent with Congress about the ongoing war with Iran.
Tillis told NBC News that Trump should share information to build "a case for why we have to have assets in the region." The senator said he supports Trump's goals but wants Congress to maintain its oversight role.
As the Iran conflict enters its fourth week, Tillis called the unclear objectives "a real problem." He said the Trump administration must explain its goals before Congress approves additional war funding.
"I support what he's trying to achieve, so I would want a resolution to support it, but we also want to assert the accountability and oversight role," Tillis said.
The senator suggested Trump is giving Iran "one last chance to come to the table" for negotiations. However, he criticized people making excuses for Trump's rhetoric about the conflict.
Republican leaders are working to keep their party unified as debates over war powers and supplemental funding continue in Congress.
Congress controls military funding and has the power to authorize wars. Without clear goals from Trump, lawmakers may refuse to approve money for the Iran conflict, potentially limiting military operations.
Congress will likely vote on additional funding for Iran operations and may debate war powers resolutions.
