Strong Tornadoes Expected Friday Across Midwest After Week of Storms

The cities most at risk include Kansas City, Madison, Des Moines, Wichita and Oklahoma City. Residents in these areas should expect hail larger than golf balls, damaging winds exceeding 75 mph, and the potential for strong tornadoes.
This latest threat comes after the Midwest has endured day after day of weather warnings throughout the week. The repeated severe weather has left communities across the region dealing with ongoing storm damage and heightened alert fatigue.
Supercell thunderstorms are rotating storms that can produce the most violent tornadoes and largest hail. They form when strong wind shear combines with atmospheric instability.
