Taylor Swift Files Trademarks to Protect Voice and Image from AI Misuse

Taylor Swift has taken legal action to protect herself from AI technology by filing three trademark applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Two of the applications specifically protect her voice, while the third covers her likeness.

The image trademark focuses on a well-known photo from her Eras tour. It shows Swift holding a pink guitar with a black strap, wearing a multi-colored bodysuit and silver boots while standing on a pink stage.

Swift filed these applications after numerous instances of her persona being used in AI-generated content without her consent. AI tools have become sophisticated enough to create fake videos and audio that can convincingly mimic celebrities' voices and appearances.

The move follows a growing trend of celebrities taking legal steps to protect themselves from AI misuse. As these technologies become more accessible, stars worry about fake content damaging their reputation or being used for commercial purposes without permission.

Swift joins other public figures who are using trademark law as a weapon against unauthorized AI-generated content that uses their identity.
