Tornado Hits Lena, Illinois; Town Shut Down as Schools Report Damage

At 6:20 p.m., the Stephenson County Sheriff's Office announced on social media that Lena is completely "shut down" as emergency crews prepare for a second round of severe storms. Sheriff Steve Stovall ordered no traffic in or out of town, saying emergency services are working to address storm damage.
The sheriff's office told people to avoid the area entirely because downed trees and power lines have blocked access roads into the village. This tornado was part of a larger severe weather outbreak affecting multiple Midwest states.
Nearby communities including Freeport, Cedarville, and Pearl City were placed on high alert as the dangerous storm system moved through the region. Video footage captured the tornado moving through the area, showing its significant destructive potential.
