Trump Administration Plans 250-Foot Arc de Trump, Twice Height of Lincoln Memorial
The Interior Department submitted plans for a 250-foot tall "Arc de Trump" that would be more than twice the height of the 99-foot Lincoln Memorial. The proposed triumphal arch would be the tallest in the world.
The Trump Administration's Interior Department has submitted detailed plans for a massive triumphal arch called the "Arc de Trump" that would tower over Washington D.C.'s most famous monuments.
At 250 feet tall, the proposed arch would be more than twice the height of the 99-foot Lincoln Memorial across the Potomac River. This would make it the tallest triumphal arch in the world, dwarfing other iconic structures in the area.
White House guests were recently shown three different sized models of the arch during a dinner in the East Room. The dinner was held for donors to a ballroom expansion project. The largest version would reportedly overshadow the Lincoln Memorial and other nearby landmarks.
The arch would be built at Memorial Circle, fundamentally altering the historic landscape of the nation's capital that millions of tourists visit each year.
This massive monument would permanently change Washington D.C.'s famous skyline and dwarf the Lincoln Memorial, one of America's most iconic landmarks. Taxpayers could be funding what would become the world's largest triumphal arch.
Construction timeline and funding details have not been announced. Congress may need to approve the project.
