The Country Music Hall of Fame announced his death this week. Moss played guitar on some of the biggest hits in music history, including Bob Dylan's "I Want You," Roy Orbison's "Oh, Pretty Woman," and Dolly Parton's "Jolene."
Moss was part of "Nashville's A-team" of musicians - the top studio players who worked with almost every major country star. He played on Roy Orbison's Monument Records hits like "Only The Lonely" and "Crying."
Later in his career, Moss helped expand country music's sound as a member of experimental country-rock groups Area Code 615 and Barefoot Jerry. These bands mixed country with rock music in new ways.
Moss worked with many other famous artists including Tammy Wynette throughout his long career as a session musician in Nashville.
Moss was part of Nashville's top group of studio musicians who shaped the sound of country music for decades. His guitar work helped create some of the most famous songs in American music history.
