Wipro Buys Mindsprint for $375M, Signs $1B Contract with Olam Group
Indian tech company Wipro agreed to buy Mindsprint, the IT division of Singapore's Olam Group, for $375 million in cash. The deal includes an eight-year contract worth up to $1 billion for Wipro to handle Olam's technology services.
Wipro, one of India's largest technology services companies, announced Monday it will acquire 100% of Mindsprint for $375 million in an all-cash deal. Mindsprint is the IT services arm of Olam Group, a Singapore-based food and agriculture business.
The acquisition is part of a broader partnership. Wipro also signed an eight-year contract to provide technology transformation services to Olam Group. The total contract value could exceed $1 billion over its duration.
Wipro's stock price jumped as much as 3.2% on Monday following the announcement, showing investor confidence in the deal. The company filed the agreement details with stock exchanges on Monday morning.
This acquisition follows a trend of Indian IT companies buying smaller specialized firms to expand their capabilities and customer base. Once the deal closes, Mindsprint's employees and technology expertise will become part of Wipro's operations.
